How to write wedding thank you cards

Wedding thank you cards are a gracious way to show your appreciation to your guests for attending your special day and for the thoughtful gifts they gave. Here are some tips on how to write wedding thank you cards:

It is recommended that you write and send out your wedding thank you cards as soon as possible after the wedding.

However, if you have many guests, it is understandable that it may take some time to get them all written and sent out. Just be sure to get them done within three months of the wedding.

When addressing your wedding thank you cards, use the proper titles and spellings for your guests. For example, if a guest gave you a gift but is not married, use “Ms.” followed by her full name.

If you do not know the name of a guest who gave you a gift, ask someone who was at the wedding or look through your wedding photos to try to identify the person.

In the body of the wedding thank you card, express your sincere gratitude for the gift you received and mention how you plan to use it or how happy it made you. For example, “Thank you so much for the beautiful vase. We love it and will think of you every time we use it.”

If the gift was money, you could mention how you plan to spend it or thank the guest for their thoughtfulness. For example, “Thank you so much for your generous gift. We are going to use it towards our honeymoon fund!”

Bottom Line

Sending thank you cards is a thoughtful way to express appreciation for the gifts and well-wishes on your big day. Personalized wedding thank you cards add a special touch that lets your guests know how much their support means to you.

With so much to do in the days and weeks after your wedding, thank you cards will feel like one more thing on your to-do list. But taking the time to sit down and write personal messages will be worth it when your guests receive them in the mail.

So if you’re wondering if you should send out thank you cards, the answer is a resounding yes! Your guests will be glad you did.
